I just got back from a trip to South Korea. I took a little bit of a hiatus with my posts, but things should be back to normal now. I had a great time at an old friend’s wedding and wanted to share some things I experienced during my trip.

Korea is very forward when considering design. Here are some pictures of a modern house “designed by Finish architect Sami Rintala as part of the Home Design for Anyang Public Art Project, this modern wood and steel house design graces a treed hilltop in Seoul, Korea.” (via Trendir)

Korean car makers have been stepping up their games on their design efforts. One notable car is the 2011 Hyundai Equus. Rumors have it that this car will be coming to the states very shortly.

Food culture is huge in Korea. “Well-being” food has been the new trend. I was lucky enough to have Jjimdak as my last meal in Korea and it was a great experience. Bongchu-jjimdak (Bongchu-style seasoned and simmered chicken) is a dish that originated in the Gyeongsangdo Andong region long ago, and has now been turned into a fusion dish seasoned with spicy sauces to fit the tastes of the people.

The wedding reception was a the W Hotel at Walker Hill in Seoul.  This self-proclaimed six-star hotel was an amazing venue.

Codes Combine is a Korean fashion label that has been holding their own in the apparel industry. Fast Eddie tuned me into the brand. After I took a look at their collection I was pretty impressed.

I am not a huge fan of Korean pop music, but I can definitely say that Korean entertainment rules Asia. During my stay pop sensation 2NE1 was over-shadowing all groups taking the charts by storm. With their styling cues heavily influenced by Jeromy Scott, this group from the YG label seems to be the next super idol group coming out of Korea.

If any of you have a chance, I definitely recommend traveling to South Korea. It is a great experience no matter what your travel objective. SOTT.
