wale - more about nothing

I’ve been on a music tip recently. I am not a critic by any means, but when I hear something good I get this feeling inside that is unexplainable. Fuck a genre…good music is good music. And fuck what people say. What you like is what you like. Be proud of it.

Hip-hop has been on an upswing the past couple of years, imo (in my opinion for you floozies out there). New stars are emerging past the smog filled layer of hip-hop. We have the kings such as Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Rick Ross and T.I. setting a nice standard and producers such as Kanye West, Pharrell, Just Blaze, Will.I.Am, DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, Timbaland, No I.D. and Dr. Dre. pushing the limits of this genre. With that said, 6 new emerging artists are paving the way for the future of hip-hop: J. Cole, Wale, Kid Cudi, B.o.B., Drake and DEEN.

Today’s concentration will be on Wale. I will touch upon the other 5 artists in later posts. Wale released a follow-up mixtape to his About Nothing mixtape entitled, More About Nothing. He refers to a lot of industry politics and his debut album flop, but shows again why he was and still is a much anticipated artist. Managed by Roc Nation and signed under Allido/Interscope, I am excited to see and hear more from Wale. I believe that Wale is here to stay; he is an uncompromising star and will be a major force that will drive the future of hip-hop. What’s weird is that my birthday is the exact same as Wale’s. Go Virgo! Lol.

More About Nothing is one of the best mixtapes I have listened to period. Lucky you, I scour the web so that you can listen to the whole thing!
